2012 Trek Top Fuel 9.8

With Trek's Top Fuel 9.8, all your XC dreams will come true. Trek's OCLV Mountain Carbon makes the frame featherweight and exceptionally efficient for outstanding power transfer. Up front, Fox's 100mm-travel fork provides dialed suspension for a sweetly balanced suspension. And in back, Trek's efficient Full Floater rear suspension delivers 100mm of smooth travel with Trek's ABP that allows the rear end to remain fully active while braking. This lets you brake later and means no more skidding across the top of stutter bumps. This carbon wonder also boasts Bontrager Race Lite wheels, which are tubeless ready to keep the weight low and traction high. And, the Shimano XT/SLX drivetrain gives you 20 smooth-shifting gears, while the SLX brakes bring you back down to earthly speeds.

Outstanding

About Me Avid Cyclist

Pros

  • Beautiful
  • Stiff
  • Super Lightweight
  • FUN
  • Agile

Cons

  • Sometimes Too Light

Best Uses

  • Mountain Biking
  • XC racing

Comments:

Once you ride plenty with it you'll adjust to the weight and it will be perfect. But be careful on some turns that are slippery, since the bike is so light it will drift across the dirt or leaves sometimes. Other than that, it's a superior bike and would recommended it to anyone looking for a fast, fun, light bike!

Pros

  • Easy Climber
  • Lightweight

Cons

  • Front Section Too Much Li
  • Factory Tires Not Suitabl

Best Uses

  • Competitive Xc And Marath
  • Mountain Biking

Comments:

This bicycle is a feast for the eyes; its sleek and elegant lines are a delightful view. This is an usual feature of Trek carbon bikes. The front section is too much light and scares a lot unwarned owners the first time they descend a hill. Because of this I didn't change my stem and wheels for carbon ones. The Bontrager XR0 team issue tires are good for competitive cross country. Period. In daily mountainbiking going down on loose and wet terrain they are a ticket to a hospital season ! But in general it's the best bike I've ever ridden. Trek forever.

A real missile

About Me Avid Cyclist

Pros

  • Versatile
  • Excellent climber
  • Lightweight

Cons

  • When wetmuddy BB squeaks

Best Uses

  • Marathon
  • Cross country

Comments:

This bike has top quality components, is feather weight and climbs everything ! One must be aware of its lightweight because it scares when descending, initially once its front section seems to be out of control and takes some time to get used to it. The XR0 team tires are not adequate to marathon use once they are not so sticky to the ground and falls may occur on wet/sandy pavement. XR4 or XR3 would be better for this purpose as I noticed after a fall unhappily. Besides that it has a beautiful and stealth look . And it's a Trek .It's worth every dollar.

    Comments:

I love this bike. It is super lite and the rear suspetion is GREAT. Rock hoping is NARLIE. The Chain Has Never fallen of and thats a huge pro. That is really important to me cause I like to push off REALLY hard after a hill on to a new one. The you wont need any thing else when you buy it except some new grips. They arn't that great. But over all a 10!
