July 23, 2017 - Sunday, 7 am
Day of the ride registration 7 - 10 am
Bicycle Tour 30, 70, 100 mile routes
& a 16 mile family route.
RIDE: We are continuing the Ride to the Depot which was first held in 1993. This is a favorite of riders in our area because of the scenic route and low traffic roads. For the most part the route follows the Sangamon River so it is appreciated for some rolling hills and even some shade. The route starts in White Heath, IL and heads north to Mahomet and the Lake of the Woods Park looping back to White Heath. The second loop is 30 miles heads southwest to follow the best part of the route taking you through the scenic Allerton Park and the picturesque town of Monticello and returns you to White Heath. If you want to do a full century you get your 100 miles by riding the 30 mile loop again. It's a fun and scenic route.
To hit the snack stops while they're open and sync with the food trucks at your finish we strongly suggest that if you're riding 100 mile start at 7 am, if riding 70 miles start at 8 am, and if riding 30 miles start at 9 am. The north loop snack stop closes at noon and the food trucks will be at the finish from 11 am - 4 pm.
FOOD:The day will start with an oatmeal bar with all the trimmings brown sugar, bananas, raisins, other fruit and milk.at the Community Club. It's a sustaining breakfast, and we'll also have bagels and fruit. There will be snack stops on the route if you need refueling during the ride. At the finish of your 30, 70, 100 mile ride your wristband will entitle you to one of the following free choices: a wood fire, cooked while you wait pizza fromDragon Fire Pizza, or a local micro-brewed beer provided by J T Walker's, or cold refreshment from tbd You can buy addition items but the first one's free. This will be a refreshing finish for your ride.
The Ride will also provide support services, marked route, and a GPS downloadable route that you can follow on your GPS device.
